Thank you for this fabulous sixth edition!

The 6th edition of CineGlobe, International Film Festival at CERN, was a resounding success! The audience, filmmakers and guests met at the heart of the world’s largest particle physics laboratory to celebrate the convergence of art, film and science! This year, for the first time in Europe, a special edition of the 48 Hour Film Project – only about Science Fiction – took place at CERN physics laboratory. Geneva teams have shot their short films of science-fiction in a weekend (1-3 July 2016) with the advice of CERN scientists.

The festival was held from the 6th to 8th July 2016 at the Globe of Science and Innovation at CERN, and then on July 9 and 10 during the Nuit de la Science at the Perle du Lac, and welcomed nearly 2500 spectators and participants during the five days of the festival. The public responded extremely positively to the programme of feature films and short selections, Emotional Circus, workshops and special events in partnership with Ciné-ONU to help underline the importance of the UN Development Goals.

This year, the public has been able to live a new experience thanks to the Emotional Circus, the invention of the artist and filmmaker Brent Hoff and by the roboticist Alex Reben, where contestants of all ages could don specially designed machine-brain interfaces and challenge themselves, and others, in fun contests based on the emotions!
