The 2021 Festival Full Programme

CineGlobe 2021

Postponed from 2020, the 10th edition of the CineGlobe International Film Festival Inspired by Science is coming to CERN on 25-29 August 2021!

Whether in person or online, daytime or evening, weekday or weekend, there’s something for everyone! Check out the full programme here and health measures here.

Short films

54 short films have been selected from over 1000 submissions for this year’s competition. They are presented in 8 general sessions mixing fiction and documentary, plus a bonus session for families with films suitable for all ages. They will also be available online on demand.

As well as the short films from the 2021 competition, keep an eye out for the special “best-of” sessions showcasing our favourite short films from the first nine editions of CineGlobe.

Masterclasses

Experts in film-making topics from VR to DIY documentary making will conduct three “masterclass” sessions to be followed by audience discussions. The masterclasses and associated discussions will also be live-streamed online.

Virtual Reality

We will be distributing foldable cardboard headsets to enable you to discover the world of virtual reality for yourself, including the immersive projects selected for our competition this year (while stocks last).

Workshops

Get hands-on with the basic principles of film and photography in our Moviola Animation and Tetra Pak Camera workshops! Places are extremely limited, so make sure to register in advance. Tip: combine a workshop with a family session of short films!

Evening events

On four of the five evenings during the festival, we will project a feature film inspired by science. On the Saturday, our traditional awards ceremony will highlight the winners from this year’s competition and the best moments from the first nine editions. Registration in advance is strongly encouraged for the evening events.

Food

A food truck will be onsite, providing meals and refreshments throughout the festival.

Registration/Booking

Evening activities and workshops must be booked in advance, while everything else on-site at CERN is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, with registration on arrival.

Cost

The whole festival is available free of charge thanks to our sponsors.
