Welcome to the final CineGlobe newsletter of 2018. In this issue, we’ll take a look back at the highlights from this year and offer you a sneak peak at what’s in store for 2019!

Future Storyworlds 2018: winning project announced

November 23-24 saw the 2nd edition of Future Storyworlds take place at CERN. In partnership with the Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival and the Pro Helvetia Swiss Arts Council, CineGlobe Film Festival held a unique workshop aimed at strengthening the narrative, technological and scientific aspects of stories from 6 Swiss immersive works of art. After two days of intense conferences and coaching, the project titled ANOTHER SHORE from Théo Fischer & Pablo Perez (MSLS, Karlskrona & Alumni ECAL, Lausanne) received a development grant of CHF 3,000.

Highlights from 2018

It has been an eventful year for CineGlobe. From our workshop at Expo Juniors in April on traditional animation techniques using an old Moviola film editor, to the inauguration of our new Cinema Caravan at the Swiss National Day and the Geneva International Film Festival in November, we’ve been expanding our activities more than ever.

And of course, there’s our flagship event, the international festival of short films inspired by science. This year, we held our longest-ever festival over 10 days in June and July around the Globe at CERN, with an extra weekend at Parc de la Perle du Lac as part of Nuit de la Science. Announcing the CineGlobe Film Festival at CERN 2019

We are pleased to announce that the CineGlobe Film Festival at CERN will return in 2019! From July 3 to July 7 2019, you will once again have the chance to enjoy the selection from our fiction and documentary short film competition, selected feature films, virtual reality experiences and interactive workshops. Keep an eye out for future newsletters for more updates in the new year, including the deadline for submitting your short film and the theme of the festival.

We will also continue contributing to other film and science festivals and events in the local area and further afield. We look forward to seeing you at one or more of our events in 2019!

In the meantime, thanks for supporting our grass-roots efforts to provide inspiring and educational cultural content around the intersection of science, art, and society. We couldn’t do it without you, so please accept our heartfelt thanks and our warmest wishes for 2019.
